Policeman's Son Is Guilty of 40 Million Jewellery Heist.

The son of an Ethiopia born police captain has been charged with robbery after carrying out one of the United Kingdom's biggest jewellery heists. Aman Kassaye and another man are said to have caused the heist in London's famous Graff Diamonds jewellery store. The pair were able to flee the scene within two minutes. Eye witnesses stated that the two wore disguises and made their faces look ten years older by using make up.

The jewellery stolen is said to be worth a considerable amount and some of the stones included in the loot are said to have been so large that they appear unreal. They are certainly real though.

Kassaye, the son of an Ethiopian police captain had been raised as a Christian under a strict upbringing when his family all moved to the UK in the late eighties.

The pair exited the store, located in London's famous bond street with a loot containing 43 necklaces, watches, bracelets and rings all said to be collectively worth 40 million pounds. It is thought that the jewels have been sold after being broken down and taken abroad.

The two made a mistake during the heist by leaving a bag containing valuable evidence for the police- a mobile phone and a shotgun. The DNA of the pair was then traced to a studio in Convent Garden where make up items used in disguising the pair for the robbery were found.

Kassaye tried to claim that the heist was a result of an inside job by Graff but this did not stand as Graff actually made a loss as their insurance company only paid out 18 million pounds- not even half of the amount stolen.

Expensive jewels are often the target of thieves as the monetary value of them is high. Some costume jewellery can be equally as stunning and it can be hard to tell apart from some high end pieces.
