Pollen Problems and Skin Disorders

There are some of us that have to deal with allergies regularly, and this is especially evident whenever there is a lot of pollen in the air. Most individuals tend to deal with these allergies by sneezing, coughing or having various types of respiratory distress. You might be surprised to learn that there are also a number of individuals who deal with other problems related to airborne allergies and pollen and may not even recognize it. A good example of this are skin conditions that people tend to have and that this can be one of the largest indicators of whether a person is dealing with allergies or not. Why is that the case?Of all of the different organs in the human body, it is only the skin that is constantly being exposed to the environment around us. Although we do breathe in this pollen regularly, and we even eat it in the foods that we eat from time to time, it is the skin that is constantly bombarded with it. This can cause a number of different skin conditions, some of which may not even be recognized as being a problem with allergies in the first place. A good example of this is psoriasis. While it is true that psoriasis is thought to be a genetic issue, there are actually a number of different triggers which can cause the psoriasis to flare up in an individual that is predisposed to it. One of the problems that can cause the outbreak is pollen and other environmental issues that are around us all the time. If you find that you are having psoriasis at certain times of the year whenever other people tend to be having hayfever and allergy problems, your psoriasis may actually be directly related to those allergies. If it is determined that the allergies you are dealing with are causing your psoriasis, there are a number of different things that you can do which will lessen the impact. One thing that may be necessary is for you to have a high quality air filter installed in your home, or at least in the room where you sleep. This not only keeps you from breathing in pollen, it keeps it from being in contact with your skin. It is also a good idea for you to wash your hair before going to bed, as this can keep any pollen that it has accumulated from coming in contact with your scalp. Finally, cover any exposed skin where possible in order to reduce the amount of contact that you have with the outside air.
