Polyester Yarn How The Beneficial Product Is Manufactured?
A wide range of outfits is stitched using the fabric made from polyester
. You can find shirts, pants, jackets, hats, bedsheets, blanket, upholstery, computer mouse mats and other items made of this fabric. Its specific advantage over other natural fabrics, make it highly sought after fabric in various industries.
Some of the properties which elevate its usability are high durability, improved wrinkle resistance and high colour retention. These fibres are sometimes spun together with natural fibres to obtain a cloth with blended properties. Synthetic fibres thus obtained are used to create fabrics with properties like superior wind, water and environmental resistance as compared to other plant derived fabrics. Manufacturers exporters of this fabric or yarn are earning good bucks these days as the demand of this fabric is really high in the market.
Clothing made from this fabric are pre-shrunk in the finishing process and so the end user enjoys wearing a clothing piece which is highly resistant to shrinkage and never stretches out of the shape. In fact textured polyester fibres, easily dyeable and mildew resistant, are effective non-allergic insulators and hence, are used for quilting, filling pillows, making outer wear and sleeping bags. Therefore, manufacturers & exporters are busy taking bulk orders for polyester yarn.
The real manufacturing process of polyester yarn is really interesting not only for its producers but also for the people who use this yarn in one of the several ways.
Steps for manufacturing filament polyester yarn:
Polymerization: Dimethyl terephthalate is reacted under suitable chemical conditions with ethylene glycol to obtain a monomer which is then treated with terephthalic acid at a raised temperature to yield a polyester in the form of ribbon.
Drying:The resultant polymer is cooled to become brittle. It is then cut into tiny chips and completely dried to prevent irregularities in consistency.
Melt spinning: The tiny chips are melted at higher temperatures like 500-518F (260-270C) to form a syrup like solution which is then put into a metal container called spinneret and then forced through its tiny holes. The emerging fibres are brought closer to form a single strand.
Drawing the fibre:The fibres originated from spinneret are soft and elongated five times to its original length. The stretching aligns the molecules in parallel fashion and hence, increases the strength, tenacity and resilience of the fibre and this time the fibres become solid on drying.
Winding: In the final process the polyester yarn is drawn and wound on bobbins for further use.
