Garden ponds are a great feature for any garden and give you a sense of the outdoors

, much more than a typical lawn and patio. Children love to see the wildlife that a pond accommodates, and small pond will create a relaxing feature and enhance the appearance of your garden.

If you are planning on putting a pond into your garden, there are a few things you need to think about.

How big do you want your pond to be? If the garden is only small then this is a big point to consider, as well as what sort of shape you are going to make it.

Think about the location of the pond, as this will affect the amount of time you need to spend tending to it. id you opt to put your pond or water feature in the sunlight then it will be more prone to having algae grow there, so you will need to skim it more often, on the other hand, if you have the pond under trees, then it will quickly fill with leaves.

If you have small children, then you will have to think about the safety issues with water in the garden. You could consider putting a small fence around the pond so small children cannot access it, or a wire mesh layer over the water, to protect them. If you need to keep your pond shallow in case a child falls in, then opt for black pond base as this will give the water the appearance of more depth.
