Pool Maintenance: The Key To A Beautiful Pool
If youre like most people, you probably didnt think very far into the future when you bought and installed your pool
. Most new pool owners are so excited about their addition and about all the fun and joy it will bring them and their families that they dont think about all of the work that goes into owning a pool. If this describes you, dont feel bad. As long as you start performing regular pool maintenance now and using the right products, you can enjoy a beautiful, pristine pool that will last for years to come and that will keep providing you and your loved ones with fun and enjoyment.
It should go without saying that youll need to clean your pool on a regular basis. Use a skimmer, which can be purchased inexpensively, a few times a week to remove leaves, dirt, bugs and other debris. This will keep debris from sinking to the bottom of the pool, where it can create serious problems in the long run and is more difficult to get rid of. Furthermore, skimming will make your pool look clean and beautiful, and will also promote better functioning of the circulation system. This can cut down on the costs of chlorine and other pool products since youll have to use them less often. Every time you give your pool a good skimming, its also a wise idea to clean out your strainer baskets as well.
In addition to these simple maintenance tasks, it is also recommended that you use a pool vacuum on your pool at least once per week. Again, this keeps you from having to go overboard with expensive chemicals and creates a cleaner, nicer, more enjoyable pool. Pool vacuums are incredibly useful, affordable, and more than pay for themselves with the future trouble and hassle they can save you from.
You should also be sure to clean your pool filter on a regular basis. Keep in mind, of course, that there are several different types of filters and that each filter has its own unique requirements when it comes to cleaning. Know which type of filter you rely on, and consult with the manufacturer to determine how and how often you should clean your filter. A good indicator that you should clean it is an increased flow between the pressure gauge and meter. Also, make sure you are throwing out your filters and replacing them with new filters as often as is recommended. Not doing so can cause damage to your pool and shorten its lifespan.
These are just a few maintenance tips for keeping your pool up to par. Having a truly healthy, thriving pool requires many other types of care, but if you can follow these tips, youre off to a great start! Just make sure you choose high quality pool maintenance products and that you have a knowledgeable pool expert that you can turn to whenever you have questions or concerns about your pool.
