Cosmetic surgery is becoming more accepted in most all areas of the country than it was just a few years ago

. Although many men and women in all states have cosmetic surgery procedures performed, California is one state where cosmetic surgery is less of an option and more of a way of life. Many Californians have had cosmetic surgery procedures, and this is no surprise since California is home of the city of Los Angeles, which is the mecca of the American television and movie industry. Although any and every cosmetic surgery procedure has probably been performed on residents of California, there are some procedures that are more popular than others in The Golden State.

Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation is very popular in California, especially in the southern part of the state. This is no surprise since this is the most common cosmetic surgery procedure performed in the entire country. More women featured in television shows, movies and magazines have undergone this procedure, making it one of the most mainstream cosmetic procedures out there today. With the many aspiring actors in California, some may consider breast implants a necessity rather than a luxury.

Liposuction

With two-thirds of Americans now considered overweight, liposuction was sure to appear on this list. Many parts of California are warm almost year-round, which means that more flesh is exposed and skimpier clothing is worn than in many other parts of the country. Those with busy schedules and money to spare opt simply to suck out their excess fat to keep their bodies in tip-top bikini shape.

Rhinoplasty

An average of almost 200,000 rhinoplasty procedures are performed in the U.S. annually; a large percentage of those surgeries are performed in California. Rhinoplasty is the technical term for a nose job. Those undergoing a rhinoplasty procedure often have nose-bumps removed, the tip of their nose reshaped or a nose completely reshaped. This cosmetic procedure is even covered by many medical insurance policies if it can be proven that the patient will have an improvement in their breathing after a deviated septum is repaired.

Eyelid Surgery

The eye area is one of the first places to on the face and body to show signs of aging. In a youth-obsessed culture, it is no wonder that eyelid surgery is becoming very common. Also called blepharoplasty, eyelid surgery, can open up the eye area and make a patient look younger with just a simple snip of excess eyelid skin. Eyes appear younger and rejuvenated after a blepharoplasty procedure.
