With over 750 plant species recorded here as well as several species of mammals such as Sambar deer, this park is rich in biodiversity and worth visiting on your holiday in Sri Lanka. In addition, Horton Plains is classified as one of the Important Bird Areas in Sri Lanka containing several species that are endemic to the country. The highlights of this park are the excellent hikes with stunning views of Sri Lankas second and third highest mountains Kirigalpotta and Totapola; and Worlds End - a stunning escarpment that drops almost straight down for 880 metres.

Waterfalls in Sri Lanka: Bambarakanda Falls is the tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka and is situated in Kalupahana in the Badulla District. Although directly visible from the A4 Highway, it is not visited often as it is difficult to access. Diyaluma Waterfall is one of the most popular waterfalls in Sri Lanka and is the second tallest. It is located close to Koslanda in Badulla District. Another waterfall worth visiting during your holiday in Sri Lanka is Bakers Falls in the Horton Plains, situated close to Worlds End.

Ancient Anuradhapura: This city is one of the ancient capitals of Sri Lanka and is well known for its well preserved ruins of Sri Lankan civilization. Tourists will be amazed at this city, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Sri Lankas North Central Province. With ruins of masonries, monastic buildings and bathing tanks dating back to 10th century BC, tourists can step back in time with a visit here.
