Popularity And Transportation: 2 Young Adult Concerns Today

These days, an 18 year old still has the same problems that we did have when we were of that age

, but with some degree of complication and with more solutions available, all they have to do is to choose which solution to pick. If you come to think of it, here are some of the problems they face and they are somewhat similar to those that we did face as young adults:

- Popularity. Being accepted for who you are is a common problem for the generations. Although there is more tolerance now when it comes to race relations, there are still niches and cliques that are prevalent in the high school system. Basically you have the popular kids and the rest. The jocks, cheerleaders still lead the list with the more popular groups in high school. However, the nerds and geeks are gaining more acceptance as being smart is now considered cool. There are also those who are somewhat different in what they wear. You have people who are considered Goths, which resembled the Punks in the 80's and there are also people who dressed in certain era's as well. Is bullying still present? I would think so but less tolerated as it should be. Still being in high school is like surviving the realities of life, and along with being accepted by peers, it is the individual that struggles to find their own place in the world in trying to find out who they are.

- Transportation. Teenagers who get their first set of wheels, whether it be a hand me down or a brand new sports coupe somewhat defines them. Finding cheap young driver's car insurance can now be found online. This is the biggest problem for most young car owners in finding cheap young driver's car insurance and this demographic set pays the highest premium rates. Rates can vary based on what type of vehicle and what type of insurance one is getting but these premiums go up based on the driving history of the driver. The more tickets, accidents, the higher the premium is imposed. Some teenagers are proud of their first jalopy for it is their first passport to freedom and independence. In the United States, one can get from one coast to the other with a car and often in college, road trips are part of the rites of passage young adults go through.
