It is unaffected by bleach and strong detergents that would destroy many other surfaces. It also is impervious to burning from open flames or cigarettes. It is the toughest material available for every day circumstances.

While this kind of tub is very durable, certain care should be taken regarding its regular cleaning and maintenance. Abrasive cleaners should always be avoided. The key to porcelain's ability to repel most stains and its overall ease of cleaning lies in its smooth surface. However, when maintained properly, they are easy to clean.

When abrasives are used, the finish is dulled and become rough. This can actually cause dirt and stains to accumulate much easier, which causes a need for it to be cleaned quite a bit more often. While very durable, porcelain is not indestructible. It is always best to use a cleaner that is recommended specifically for porcelain.

Among their many attributes, these units are also quite stylish. With modern manufacturing techniques, they can be produced in just about any size, color or shape imaginable. When you combine the factors of style, ease of maintenance and long life, the porcelain tubs are the best choice for many bathrooms.
