Television has been an integral item in our household since its creation that can be traced as far back as 1920s. Over time, this piece of technology evolved from a simple cathode ray tube to an astonishing LED flat screen edition. Portable TVs come in three types - the portable TV, the pocket TV, and the wearable TV. These TVs are bigger, standing approximately 8 inches in size usually using battery to power. Pocket TV is so small it can fit in your pocket, thus the term. Meanwhile, the wearable TV comes in a hang-in-your neck size.

The first transistorized movable TV set came out in 1959. Sinclair Research then made a follow-up release in the 70s when they made the first portable TV available in the market, named the MTV-1. The design automatically caught the attention of the buying crowd. During this period Sony was also letting out some of their impressive sets making them the leading name in technology. In 1982, they released the black and white video viewer. The company did not stop from innovating movable TVs. Inspired, the company decided to come up with the color version which is made up of active matrix LCD.

Portable TVs since then has been a common stuff in the office, in the garage, in our car, or at the kitchen. The good thing about it is that many manufacturers never stop from creating new things and soon, entertainment will never be the same.

According to sales, millions of people all around the world now own portable TVs in different forms. The basic form which is still leading the race in terms of market share is the tablet type. There is no wonder in the trend as it is more convenient to use. It does not compromise quality and the television experience in spite of its small size. You can watch it in wide screen with very vivid pictures. This is also very handy as you can easily carry it anywhere you want to go, be it in your bag or in the car.

However, hand held portable TVs are also catching up in the popularity and sales races. As cellular phone brands are still skyrocketing their way through billions of dollars, hand-held portable TVs are also gaining a significant following. Though they have smaller screens and the experience is not something to write home about, they are still very user friendly and the true meaning of a portable gadget is defined clearly.

These hand held portable TVs have more applications than just a regular tablet type. You can use it as a music player that allows you to store hundreds of music, depending on the memory size. If your budget even allows you to purchase a high-end brand, then you will also have the capacity to access Internet through Wi-Fi. The screen quality differs from brand to brand and from price to price. But basically, the standard is the same. With the very tight competition among companies, consumers will benefit the most so grab the chance.
