Postcard Printing - The Worst Mistake Ever!

Postcards, bah! Pointy corners that could put an eye out

. Ink that could come off on your handsit might happen someday! then soak into your bloodstream and kill you. Pretty photos on one side, nice and shiny and slick. If you left one on a tile floor you could slip on it and end up in traction forever.

On the other side of the postcard, self-promoting copy about how great the companys product is and blah, blah, blah. Nobody ever puts out a postcard about how their company stinks and their products could blow up in your face and singe off your eyebrows.

Admit it: you wouldnt, either. If you produced a postcard, it would be attractively designed with a beautiful photo or two, and some well-written text about the terrific product or service your company offers. Dont do it!

Why not? Because postcard printing causes businesspeople no end of trouble. Even if they dont get poked in the eye, or die of blood poisoning, or break all their bones in a nasty fall, they still have to put up with ringing phones, and unexpected emailsall from people wanting to place orders.

Ill give you an example, one of many sad stories: we have a certain long-standing customer whose company makes jewelry. They design their own jewelry and take photos of each piece. They put together a postcard featuring some of their designs, drop in the photos, and send us the digital files, along with the names and addresses of everyone they want to send a postcard to. We print the postcards and send them out to the people on their list.

Thats when the trouble starts. One minute its nice and peaceful around their office. The next, their postcard mailing hits the fan! Their phone starts ringing. Their website gets a surge of hits. The orders pour in. They can hardly hear themselves think, with the unbearable din of activity that ensues.

Its a good thing they make a lot of money on each piece. Otherwise those thousands of dollars worth of business wouldnt be worth the trouble of getting the postcards in the mail (ok, we do that part, but you get the idea).

Maybe you have a different kind of business. Maybe you think you have a product that you want to sell. Maybe you have a service that you mistakenly think you want people to buy.

Not so fast! Why take the risk?

Look around your nice, quiet little office. The silent phone. The clean desktop, uncontaminated by orders to fill and checks that have to be hauled to the bank. Who needs all that? Who needs the rustling of papers when you can open your window and listen to the rustling of leaves instead?

But you wont listen, will you? You dont think it will happen to you. You think you can handle the stress of too much business. Well, go ahead, smarty pants: promote yourself with a pretty postcard. But dont say I didnt warn you.
