Twitter Marketing is a great way to quickly drive traffic where you want it to go. This is true because of one of the first principles I ever learned on the Internet:
Don't chase after traffic. Discover where the traffic is going and get in front of it
Not only does Twitter allow you to get in front of where the traffic is going (#11 website in the world at the time of this writing) you can then direct the traffic exactly where you want it to go.
Did you get that? With Twitter you can get in front of waves of traffic, and then direct it exactly where you want it to go. Like to your opt-in pages, articles, videos, profit centers, etc.
Redirect traffic where you want it to go
Let's say you have created a great new audio about a topic in your niche, and are using it as the deliverable for when someone opts-in. You could, and should, email your list community a few times to invite them to get the NES audio. But these are people who are already in your list community.
What about getting new leads with your new opt-in offer?
That's where Twitter, and re-directing traffic where you want it to go, comes in. You could easily have 2-3 tweets a day about your new opt-in offer. You could do this as long as prospects are responding to your offer. In this way you can pick up lots of new leads, and get many of your Twitter followers into your email list community.
Or let's say you have written a great new article and want to drive lots of traffic to it, whether it is on EzineArticles or on your blog. Again, you could email your list community. This is a great thing to do because you are inviting your list community to get more great info from you. This is taking good care of your list community.
Much more traffic can come from inviting your Twitter followers to visit and read your new article. You could send out several tweets to this article. Here is just one example of how you could do it:
