*Get support from friends and family. Their help is most important in your fight with pre diabetes; call friends and family to let them know you want to make a lifestyle change.
*Control your meal portion. Start eating when you are truly hungry and stop eating when you feel satisfied. You can drink a glass of water 10 minutes before eating to take the edge of your appetite so you don't overindulge in food. When you have a dinner, stop eating at least two to three hours before your regular bedtime.
*Eat the right foods if you have pre diabetes. Don't consume foods that contains simple carbohydrates, any trans fats, high calories and excess sugar. Eat plenty of high-fiber vegetables and fruits, fresh fish, baked chicken, complex carbohydrates (such as brown rice, whole grains), dried beans and lentils. Drink lots of water and nonfat dairy. Do not drink sodas and beverages that contains excessive sugar.
*Do a little more exercise regularly. You do not need to do hard exercise. Find what is fun and convenient for you. You can walk inside the mall or around your house, walk up the stairs instead of taking the lift or an escalator, clean the house, try to run errands on foot.
You must completely commit to the changes mentioned, going above and beyond the bare minimum exercise and diet recommendations. With this way, surely you can prevent the risk of developing into type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
