Many companies that supply precision components to the industry sectors that require them have a wide range of machinery available to them

. This allows these companies to produce a high batch number of these products for the industries they work for. A lot of their clients are those such as hospitals, people in the motor sport industry and even aerospace and therefore, quality always needs to be completely and utterly perfect. Because of this, the maintenance of the machinery must also always be up to standard and checked over on a very regular basis. If a fault with certain machinery goes undetected it can completely destroy a customer's batch of products and therefore, increase the time and possible even decrease the quality that they will receive in the end. This will of course do no good things for a company's reputation and only serve to lose custom for them in the future.

Health and safety testing is a big part of any business and their efforts to keep the workplace a safe place. Not only are the customer requirements a major factor in this but also the safety of the people that work with the machinery such as the CNC lathes. One of these machines alone can be a great threat of danger to people and therefore, all personnel need to take extra care when operating this type of machinery. Everyone operating these machines should always wear the proper protective clothing, gloves and goggles that are required in order to protect themselves when working with dangerous materials and machinery. This should always be provided by the company in question and not the staff members themselves. Also, it is quite often the case that whenever an accident occurs in the workplace, the employer is at fault for "failing to provide the correct equipment". Therefore, the employer should be extremely cautious and strict when it comes to the rules and regulations surrounding these machines.

Other rules inside any workplace in which these particular machines are operated are relatively simple and perhaps common sense to most people. There are basic rules that are learnt in training and apprenticeships such as keeping dangerous areas confined such as closing doors, possibly opening windows to keep in the correct level of airflow etc. For a person unsure of anything that they are doing or need to do, they should always ask a senior staff member. Never let pride come before safety.
