Consumer Reports recently released the predicted reliability ratings for the 2011 family cars, upscale cars, and luxury cars. The predicted car reliability is based on the infrequency of serious problems within the most-recent 3 or fewer model years. This article lists the Top 5 of these cars whose reliability prediction is based on at least 2 years of model data.

By predicted reliability, Consumer Reports' Top 5 family cars, in descending order of reliability, are:

V6, front-wheel-drive Ford Fusion

4-cylinder Ford Fusion

Toyota Camry Hybrid

4-cylinder Toyota Camry

Nissan Altima Hybrid.

For those with an ownership horizon slightly longer than 3 years, the 2010 Car Reliability Grade Point Averages for the age interval 0-to-4 years of these Top 5 family cars are:

V6, front-wheel-drive Ford Fusion: Reliability GPA of 3.75
