Prefer WebI Rich Client to WebI (in DeskI's abscence)

One day, of my finish end users asked me:

"Can I use an excel file as a knowledge provider in WebI? It was feasible with DeskI..."

I knew it was impossible with WebI but I didn't know what to answer. Doing some research I discovered that there was a kind of desktop WebI version named WebI Rich Client.

I am glad that now I will be able to help my finish user.

Pretty simple. And this is WebI Rich Client, not DeskI. What I am liking more is that "First rows contains column names" option is checked by default. Using DeskI I used to forget checking it. (What a drag!) But with Webi Rich Client everything looks improved.

You can save your reports to My Documents, to your desktop, to any folder in your computer. & when you are done you only must press the Export option in File menu.

However I do know that there's few DeskI options that the user won't find in WebI nor WebI Rich Client, like this controls

But those are things that can be achieved using formulas. So there is no stress.

Perhaps it is a small bit late to report my finish user how wonderful WebI Rich Client because probably WebI Rich Client will get replaced by another BusinessObjects product with the approaching release of BO six.0, but at least I will be able to say that I found an answer for my finish user.

Which product do you like more WebI or Deski WebI rich Client? Do you know if BO 4.0 will bring new features or will it keep old WebI features?
