Prepare Your Car For Summer With These Tips!
Preparing your car for the summer season is important especially if you are planning for out of town trips
. Depending on how old your car is, there are several things to monitor in its present state of condition. Here are some of the things you must do:
- Check all the liquids of your vehicle. Make sure that you do not have anti freeze anymore in your engine for the liquids. You need to drain this. Check the water level of your radiator and if you want, place some additives to prevent your radiator from overheating. If you have a vehicle that is ten years or older, go and check to see if there are any radiator leaks or if the radiator is rusting. You can do this at the same time you check on your air conditioner. Go to an air con repair center to have this checked out. If you check in your area, there may be a lot of air con repair centers there. Most of them are reliable. Check your brake fluid and engine motor oil as well. To check your engine motor oil, go and take out the motor oil dipstick and see if the oil is black. If the oil is black, then it is time to have an oil change. Do that by going to a garage and have the oil drained out from the bottom. You would need a car lift for that. Then replace the drained oil with new motor oil. For the brake fluid, look and see in the transparent brake oil canister in the car to see if the levels are optimal for driving. If lacking, just add more brake fluid to the canister.
- Once your liquids have been checked and all the necessary ones are replaced, check to see if your engine needs a tune up. There are diagnostic machines that can analyze this or go on a test drive to see if the engine feels and sounds in tune. If there are" coughs" or " spurts" in the sound of the engine when you are driving it, then better to have it checked, tested and tuned up.
- Check your tires and wheels. Look at the tire thread and see if they are worn. This can be done by looking at it and see if within the tire groove, you can place a small coin between them and it can stand up You can also have your wheels balanced and aligned. Doing this enables you to have the confidence to take your car out of town during the summer period.
