Preparing And Painting Outbuildings

Most of us have done painting and decorating of some description and have all got paint on our hands some time or other

. But, Whilst many of us will have done some painting in our homes, what we may not have taken a brush to such things as washrooms, workshops, garage and outbuildings, studios and even equestrian stables. These all have different demands when it comes to painting them, and that includes choosing the right paint for the job.

Adequate preparation is essential before any kind of painting job, but especially when you are going to be working on an outbuilding or concrete flooring. Areas where there are likely to be spillages such as garages which often sees oil spills will need a product to clean them before painting can commence.

It will also save time and bother if you have all the necessary accessories to hand before beginning work. This includes having the right type of paints, and enough of it, available. The right type of brushes and rollers, all properly cleaned and dry if not new, roller frames and paint paddles, should all be within easy reaching distance while you are working.

Because outbuildings are obviously not wallpapered the walls and ceilings will need to be painted. A quality white paint, that has the qualities to bind the surface to prevent dirt and dust being released, is advisable for this kind of work.

None of these areas are carpeted so they all require floor paint. You may also need paint thinners to water down the paint for the first coat. Once the first coat has been applied to the floor surface, a non-slip additive may have to be sprinkled over before further coats are added.

By choosing the right paint, having all the accessories to hand, and preparing adequately, you should reap the rewards of a first class painting job
