Preparing For Disaster With Data Recovery Services

Do you currently have effective data recovery services for your company

? If you don't, then why not? You need to understand that having structured and efficient data backup services are as fundamental to your business structure as collecting payment for each task that your perform. Proper planning prevents poor performance. It is a business model that basically states that if you do not put in the appropriate levels of planning and preparation then you should expect to fail.

If you have no experience in performing data backups or data recovery then it doesn't really matter, there are a number of companies out there that can assist you with all of the your recovery service needs. A quick phone call to one of these companies will start the ball rolling for what could be one of the most important contracts of your business to date.

One of the first things that you will need to plan out is what type of data recovery services that you wish to utilise. There are two main types of backup, onsite and offsite backups. Onsite backups generally take more effort to perform and more effort to upkeep. Effectively you will have a machine onsite which has been assigned as the server. This machine will have a piece of software on it which will allow you to backup all of your important files to the server on a daily or weekly basis. When you perform this type of data backup you usually utilise some form of external media either in the form of a CD or DVD or a data tape.

There are however a number of drawbacks with this method, they involve the fact that you have to ensure that you take the data offsite with you every night in case the building is burgled or in case there is a fire in the building.

The second option in data recovery services is to have an offsite backup performed over the internet. In this case you don't have to worry about taking any data offsite at night, you don't have to have a specially assigned machine to perform the backup and you will be able to recovery data in minutes rather than hours should anything go wrong. There is no right and wrong solution, obviously each company has to analyse the different variables of each backup and decide which is right for them. However it is vital for your business that you actually have a backup solution prepared and in place, if not you might find that you regret it when things go wrong.
