Your luggage should not have too many compartments because you could risk losing something or worse receiving an "illegal" gift from someone. Also, you luggage should have a lock that makes is almost impossible to tangle with.
The destination also plays an important part on what you should pack. For example, if you are spending your vacation in the mountains then you should pack only appropriate clothes like t-shirts, hiking boots, pants and so on. Any high heel shoes and beautiful long dresses would be quite inappropriate. However, if you are planning a romantic dinner with your loved one then you might take a pair of jeans and a fancy shirt. This outfit will certainly rise to the occasion. You are in the mountains nonetheless, romantic dinner and all.
However, if you have decided that the seaside is the best destination for you then you can just forget about the hiking boots. You should bring two or maybe three bathing suits with you but anything that goes over this number will only prove that you care more about clothes than sun bathing. You should pack light clothes that will keep you cool during the hot days. But bringing something thicker in case it rains is not something you should forget about. It is a known fact that the seaside is a more appropriate place for socializing this is why we should be prepared and should bring more than one outfit that can be worn in various occasions.
Your cosmetics and your medicine should be put in a small bag in your luggage. Also, you should only bring what you think that you will use so try not to overdo. Your luggage will only become a hassle if it is too heavy.
