then choosing VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification will be a right thing. This program is designed for those technical individuals, end users, partners who want to gain or show their expertise in virtual infrastructure and looking for carrier advancement.
The VCP certification exam is harder than most baseline certification. It is a great certification exam because it requires cross- platform knowledge. Some knowledge of SAN (Storage Area Network) which helps to understand connecting various storage systems to VMware and some knowledge of Linux is needed to understand the service console. Knowledge of Network topologies to work with virtual switching is also required. This broad area of expertise adds the values to VCP exam. Candidate having VCP will be able to work in large environments because of their understandings of many technologies.
The VCP includes Virtual Center, VCB (VMware Consolidated Backup) and VI3 (Virtual Infrastructure) suits which includes ESX 3.5. VMware requires that candidate should take an official course through their training program in order to test for VCP. This class is called Virtual Infrastructure 3: Install and configure course. Candidate may be qualify to take the VCP exam if he/she has taken other VMware- led classes such as Deploy, Secure and Analyze (DSA) but candidate has to contact directly VMware to ensuring that course qualifies.
The VCP exam is conducted by Pearson VUE which is a third party authorised center. Pearson VUE has over 3500 authorised testing centers all over the world. Register yourself at www.pearsonvue.com .Exam will be of 90 minutes which will be having 75 questions. Scoring above 70 is considered to be passed. Countries where English is not a national language will be provided 30 minutes extra time to complete the exam. If candidate fails in an exam then he/she can attempt the exam again. There is a 7 day waiting period between attempts and each attempt will cost a new payment to candidate. Once exam is passed candidate is not allowed to take the exam again.
