A pressure washer is quite useful for those tough outside cleaning jobs that may require more scrubbing effort than you can physically provide. The powerful blast of water from the washer can remove stains from a variety of surfaces, such as vinyl siding, concrete and masonry. However, there are times when a cleaning agent is needed to break up tough stains as well as kill mold and mildew. Knowing how to make your own pressure washer detergent is a cost-effective and easy cleaning solution.

Instructions;

Mix 1/3 cup powdered laundry detergent, 2/3 cup powdered all-purpose household cleaner, one quart of liquid bleach and one gallon of water in a large bucket. If your skin is easily irritated or you have respiratory issues, wear safety glasses, a facemask and rubber gloves for protection.

Stir soap mixture in the bucket with the wooden stir stick, taking care to thoroughly mix the pressure washer detergent, yet not create a bucket of suds. If too many suds develop during the mixing process, you will have to wait until they dissipate before using in the pressure washer.

Cover any areas such as flowers and other landscaping elements with a clear plastic tarp to protect them from the soapy bleach detergent. While the bleach is diluted with water, it could harm flowers and small shrubs, thus the need for a tarp. Grass typically rebounds quickly from exposure to diluted bleach and is not as much cause for concern.

Pre-wash your dirty surface with just water from the pressure washer. This will loosen any dirt or debris.

Pour mixed detergent into the soap tank of your pressure washer, according to manufacturer's instructions. Spray the soiled area with the detergent mixture.

Rinse the soapy surfaces with clean water from the pressure washer until clean.
