Pretty Areas That Can Be Enjoyed In Central London
There are fabulously beautiful, expensive and luxurious hotels in London like the one where Miss Marple spent a famous holiday
. Those are the sorts of places elderly lady detectives like to stay while discovering scandals and crimes hidden behind the calm facade. But some people prefer to spend their vacation budget getting out and seeing and doing rather than on their lodgings. For those people who prefer a cheap London hotel has options.
The Capital of the UK isn't the cheapest city in the world. Unless you are an elderly spinster who really cares about the perfect poached egg you would probably rather be spending money on things other than your lodgings. If you are only going to be using your london kings cross hotel as a place to sleep and shower there is no sense in investing a lot of money in it.
There are great places to see and things to do in this cosmopolitan city. Central London is an important business and financial district and attracts many business travelers. However it is also historically significant.
Central London is where visitors will find historic buildings and streets that have been mentioned in history books, novel, poems and movies for centuries. Fleet Street is the home of the homicidal barber Sweeney Todd as well as the historic home of the British Press. Harley Street where the medical profession has long maintained its preferred addresses was mentioned in the Oscar-winning movie, The King's Speech. Museums and art galleries abound.
The Tower of London was once a notorious prison. Today it is an exciting and colorful museum that should be added to the list of must-sees. Other candidates of that list include the Tate Gallery, the Victoria and Albert Museum and the British Museum.
London does museums in a big way. There's a museum for nearly every interest. Just a short walk from the British museum with its mummies and marble statues one can explore the Cartoon Museum. Here can be seen fine examples of cartoon art dating from the 1700s up to the present day. 221B Baker Street is the home of the Sherlock Holmes Museum.
The legendary Madame Tussauds Wax Museum on Marleybone Road is a two-minute walk from the Baker street tube station. The wax museum has been in the same location since 1884. However the exhibit has grown and changed greatly since the young Anna Maria Grosholtz got her start molding death masks of royal victims of the French Revolution. Today visitors can see modern sports heroes and film stars along with famous figures from history. The Chamber of Horrors remains a favorite exhibit with visitors from all over the world.
But there is more to this vibrant city than museums and galleries. The Soho district is home to some of the most famous and infamous nightspots. Prince Harry has reputedly been seen at some of the livelier clubs and bars. Visitors to London who enjoy shopping, exploring parks gardens and museums by day, and clubs, concerts and theatre by night won't be spending a lot of time in their hotel rooms.
For finding cheap hotels London is not the the most obvious place to look. But there are reasonably price lodgings near all the major attractions. You just have to look for them. An online search is a good place to start. Find out where other travelers have stayed and what they recommend.
