What is Click-to-Mail?

Click to Mail is one of the sites within the United States Postal website. People outsource a lot of their private lending mailings on the Internet to this Click to Mail. You can go to USPS.com and once you've signed up for their program they send you over to this Click to Mail, where they have all kinds of ways that you can send out postcards, letters, booklets, however you want to do that. They have all kinds of different products.

Start with Small Postcards

They have different sizes of postcards. You can do the small postcards; they can be in color or high gloss. None of this I recommend but it's all there for you if you want to get really fancy.

We typically recommend the first mailing to any list that you send be a small postcard and as simple as you can. You want to send out a black and white, all text, no pictures, simple postcard and you have two objectives.

Two Objectives

You want two things to happen.

First, a private lender responds to that postcard and that's obviously something very positive. They would call you and ask you for more information.

Second, the Post Office would send the cards back to you saying they can't deliver it. Then you can clean up the list, deleting them so that next time you don't continue to mail to them.

Cleaning Your List

Again, that first mailing you want to use as cheap a card as possible. If you can get it down to about 30 to 32 cents per card, that's good. You want to do it as cheap as possible so you can save some money, but also clean up your list.

If you purchase a list, there is almost guaranteed that 20-25% of that list will be undeliverable. I don't know that there's a way around that. I think the reality is these lists are a little bit stale sometimes. People move around a lot and they're not going to be where they say they are.

On the next mailing and the following mailing, if you've cleaned up your list, you can afford to spend a little bit more money. Now you know that a large percentage of that list will get delivered.

If you can get 90-98% of the second and third mailings to be delivered, you can afford to spend a little more. Maybe go to a large postcard or even possibly a letter. Be sure and use that first mailing to cull or weed out the bad mailings.

After performing this procedure multiple times you should end up with a mailing list of potential clients that you can continue to mail offers to such as free information, free seminars, or anything else along that line.
