Pro Tools Lessons For Voice-overs

This month we are showcasing our new Pro Tools Workshop that we started a couple of months ago

, not knowing it would be so popular! In our efforts to provide our students with the three things they need to succeed in the voice-over industry (voice-over training, marketing skills, and the recording & editing chops), we scheduled Pro Tools Workshops all over the country to give students hours of hands-on learning with one of our best engineers from the Post Production department, Aaron Sullivan.

A student from one of our Boston workshops, Faith Cripps, says, "When I got the email from Such A Voice about the Pro Tools Workshop, I was so excited! I knew that they would teach me exactly what I need to know about recording and editing voice over work -- not like other workshops that teach things that I don't care about and wouldn't use in my professional career."

Students are encouraged to bring their computers and gear to the Pro Tools Workshops in order to get hands-on experience through the entire weekend. For the first two hours, Aaron leads the whole group through a general tutorial on Pro Tools that covers the basics of recording, editing, mixing and bouncing voice jobs.

"Aaron was extremely helpful and professional, and he taught us in a language that we could all understand," says Faith. "He was receptive to any and all questions, and he was able to answer them all without making anyone feel like it was a basic or stupid question."

The workshop continues from there on out in small groups of three or four. Aaron spends four hours with each group, working on their personal equipment and helping them troubleshoot, record and edit right there on the spot. Students get his personal attention, and they also have the advantage of watching him work with other students on other related material.

"The greatest part of the entire workshop was that Aaron cleared up all the confusion and showed us how simple it is! Before I took this workshop, it was so frustrating because problems would always pop up and I wouldn't know how to resolve them on my own." Faith continues, "Now I know what to do, and I can use Pro Tools as a professional voice actor at home and get the finished product to the client on time. My career feels like it's going to take off now -- and that is so exciting!"

Many students like Faith would have struggled with the technical aspect of being a voice actor have come to workshops all over the country. We are currently scheduling more classes and dates around the country, so stay tuned!
