Pro se or attorney representation?

Pro se or attorney representation?

The answer to file Pro se or not, varies depending on the type of civil suit, the amount claimed, can you afford an attorney, severity of the lawsuit, you ability to spend time and efforts to research, your attitude and many such decisive factors!

Is Pro se better? Why file Pro se? What are Pro se benefits? Is Pro se a good idea? To file Pro se or not? I don't know anything about lawsuits! I have no clues about legal processes! I am not aware of the legal terms! What if I made a fool of myself! What if I loose miserably? Confused? Yes, the thought of Pro se can be really overwhelming for most, but it really isn't that uncomfortable and tedious process.

May be a few Pro se benefits can help here

First of all you are the most knowledgeable person about your case! No one knows your scenario in the case better than you! When you hire an attorney, not only you have to pay the attorney to explain your scenario but also to keep the attorney posted in a timely fashion.

You save a good amount of money! You might spend some money in time to learn the legal processes but still save a huge chunk! I can't even begin to explain the hundreds of dollars one can save just by learning to draft and file documents in the court!

You might experience that attorneys might be too busy to concentrate on the details of your case, or for many other reasons get dissatisfied with the attorney and want do a better job than the attorneys!

Trust Issues! Sometimes it's difficult to trust that the attorney will do his/her best to win the lawsuit. Due to the lengthiness nature of the litigation process, sometimes it's difficult to trust that the attorney remembers everything you conveyed to him/her. Also, one might feel that attorneys are paid irrespective you loose or win the litigation, so may be it doesn't matter to the attorney to win the case as much as it matters to you!

Though, it completely depends on ones comfort level and the complexity of the lawsuit, but for simple litigation like uncontested divorce, lesser amount civil suit, etc. a pro se approach is sensible.
