Production Of The Bentley Brooklands Coming To An End

The end of production for the new Bentley Brooklands Coupe is almost here

, it has only been in production since 2008. Bentley set out to only build 550 of the Brooklands model, and estimated that by 2011 all 550 would be built. All of the limited edition Bentleys were sold out before production even began in 2008.

The Bentley Brooklands Coupe is hand built from the ground up at Bentleys Crew plant. The plant employs traditional coach-building techniques and craftsmanship skills in wood veneer and leather hide.

The Brooklands Coupe uses a 6.75 litre Rolls-Royce twin-turbocharged V8 engine, producing 530 horsepower (bhp) and 1,050 Newton metres (774 ft-lb), which is the highest torque ever developed by a production V8 engine. The big luxury coupe can do 0-60mph in around 5.0 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 185mph.

Bentley dont build anything in small proportions, the Brooklands Coupe has a 10ft wheelbase and 17ft overall length, yet it still manages to look agile and sporty. Inside, swathes of beautifully hand-stitched leather and acres of wood and stainless steel seemingly cover every surface area. As you'd expect from any Bentley, the ride is super-smooth, but has enough detail in the response to let you know exactly what's going on with the tyres and the road.
