Professional Photos are your Internet Calling Card

People are visual, we make hundreds of subliminal as well as conscious judgments about each other

. When we meet someone new, we are more in-tune to those messages, because it's all we've got - meaning we don't have a historical perspective - our only field of reference is how they look and act. So it is super important to get the right message across, instantly.

Our world and the way we communicate has changed; now your "internet presence" is becoming more and more integral for reaching out both personally and professionally. Controlling the images and perceptions that others have of you is imperative.

Consider where you have (or could have) internet presence? Social media sites like Twitter or Facebook. Business social media such as Linked In. discussion forums you participate in. Your business website, or the website of the company you work for. Your profile for on-line dating. Have you ever submitted an article you wrote to a journal or on-line article service? Do you place ads for your company or product?

All these venues offer you the opportunity to post a photograph. And what did you post? Nothing? Something decent taken by chance? Guys: this picture is a BIG deal. It is the number ONE factor that the other person will use to initially determine whether they push the "yes I want to connect" button!!

I highly recommend that you get some professional photographs. It is WELL worth the investment to have a visual representation of yourself that is of the best quality and that "feels" like who you are.

When you get your pictures, ask the photographer to help you select the images that reach out to you both the most. Which conveys confidence in you, or your sense of energy. Consider which image looks like a person to be trusted. When you it narrowed down to a couple, invest the editing too a little digital editing goes a long way.
