Professional and Social Responsibility- Last Chapter in PMBOK@4
This chapter in PMBOK is more about is more about the soft skills and moral values expected from the practicing project managers. It is not like other chapters of PMBOK but while preparing for PMP examination one should prepare this chapter also with same seriousness because many questions on the exam come from this chapter.
Professional and social responsibility can be broadly classified into four different topics:
Ensure Individual Integrity:
Project Managers should respect copyright rules, stay away from any illegal activities like taking or giving bribe to get the work done. The important point to note here is that what is considered bribe in one country might be completely legal in another country. So as a Project Manager should judge all such payments with respect to the local laws.
Contribute to Project Management Knowledge Base:
You should share best practices with colleagues at work. You can also mentor junior members of your project on project management concepts.
Enhance self Professional competence:
You can identify a senior project manager as mentor and discuss your day to day project management problems with him. You can also ask him on what would have he done in a similar Project scenario.
Promote Stakeholder collaboration:
Stakeholder collaboration is key to project success and that's why as a Project Manager, you should work hard to ensure that stakeholders are aware of the project benefits and they extend all possible support to make the project successful.
These are the things one project manager should remember to became successful in his project.
