Project Management Positions & Project Manager Salaries Are Still Rising

Project manager salaries vary based on your years of experience

, the corporation you are employed by, the level of management you have accomplished, and the city/state in which you are employed. The one concrete fact is that project management, along with salaries, will consistently rise over time.

A project management career will provide you with the means to live a comfortable life. Good to know, but you may still be wondering what a project manager is. Each project management position will vary based on where you work; however, your main goal is to define a project and see it through until completion (just a the title suggests).

As stated before, specifics will vary based on specific jobs. However, this does not mean that a project management position is temporary. In fact, it is quite the opposite. There are numerous projects that have an elongated time of duration. However, most project managers are juggling more than one project at any given point in time. On top of that, they often move right on to the next project as soon as another is completed.

A common factor that you will see in corporate America today, is that there each department has their own project manager. This person can then focus on what is important for the efficiency of that department only. This tends to make projects more successful. As a PM, you will determine time, resources, and budget for a given project. Additionally, you will define what the project entails, also known as the scope of a project.

He or she delegates responsibilities, reports to stakeholders, and ensures that all tasks stay on track in order to bring about a successful completion. They will not; however, deal with projects from other departments. This is a great approach as it ensures that each department's projects are handled with expertise and allows for nothing but high quality results.

Over the past few years we have seen many people lose their jobs, many positions cut, and salaries stay the same rather than increase with the cost of living. A career in project management will not feel these effects near as detrimentally. In fact, many in this field of work have been rewarded. This is one of those careers that flourish even in the worst of times. Projects always need to be managed and completed.

Even if you do not monitor project manager salaries, and you simply like what the job entails, this is a great position. If you are the type who can delegate, organize, and likes to see things through to completion, then project management just might be for you. And it does not hurt that they paycheck is usually decent too.
