Unknown to many, skiing environment has a tricky temperature that skiers have to deal

. Skiing is an aerobic activity and while you may be warm after a long run, you will cool down while sitting on a chairlift. That is why proper womens ski apparel layering is a must, to achieve the suitable heat needed as the temperature rise and fall.

To achieve the best result ski clothing should always obey the three-layer system: the waterproof and windproof outer layer, an insulating layer that warms, and an inner layer that comforts and removes moisture from the skin. Each layer is made from different fabrics and materials designed to keep the skier comfortable and warm without affecting the skiers body free movement.

Although an integral part of the inner layer, a 100 percent cotton undershirt would absorb moisture yet make you sweat, feel uncomfortable and create an odor. Choose a base layer that is breathable and keeps moisture away from your skin and dries quickly. Cotton with polyester fabric works best for the base layer.

Mid layer is all about insulation. Sweat shirts, fleece jackets and ski vests are among a variety of womens ski apparel to choose from. For sudden temperature drop, an additional second layer might be needed for increased insulation. On not to cold days the mid layer can be used as outer layer.

The outer layer is the skiers first line of defense against harsh elements. A sturdy and dependable ski jacket and trousers is needed. Womens ski apparel must waterproof from the outside but allows the skin to breathe and perspire from the inside. The ski jacket should be weatherproof and large enough to accommodate your inner layers. Ski trousers should also be weatherproof and fit snugly over your ski boots. Just like the mid layer, outer layers are available with and without extra insulation depending on the weather condition.
