Proper Use Of A Blackhead Removal Tool

A blackhead removal tool, also known as a comedone extractor or blackhead extractor, is a small metallic implement that is a little bigger than a pair of tweezers. It has a straight shaft with two metallic loops, one on each end. The metal loops may be varying sizes or assorted shapes for treating different types of pimples. Some blackhead removal tools have only one loop and a small scoop-shaped tool for scouring dead skin cells and extra oil from the nostrils, chin, and even for cleaning out the ears.

To use a blackhead removal tool, you'll first wish to soften and open the pores of the face using steam or a warm washcloth. To steam treat your face, all you need to do is boil a pot of water on the hotplate, then drape a towel over your head, and hold your head over the saucepan as it creates steam. Please do be careful not to get too close to the source of the steam. Steam burns are very painful! As long as you have a towel draped over your head, you shouldn't have to be so close to the steam that it hurts you. It should just feel toasty and humid, not unpleasant. If using steam makes you uncomfortable, you can create the same effect by placing a warm wet washcloth to the affected area. The only difference between the washcloth and steam is that you may have to keep reheating the washcloth, as it will cool down quickly. The steam, of course, will keep producing so long as the water is boiling.

Once you've prepared the affected area, get your blackhead removal tool and place one of the metal loops directly over the blackheads, one by one. Carefully administer pressure in a downward motion, but beware not to cut or scrape the skin. The contents of the blackhead should release effortlessly. If they don't, rewarm and re-steam the area and try again. Never force a blackhead to release. If you do, you may cause painful tearing and unsightly scarring, not to mention the risk of infection if germs are allowed into to an open pore. Once you've successfully removed blackheads, make sure to clean and sanitize the blackhead extractor before you keep it for future uses. It is very essential to consistently use a clean blackhead removal tool so that you are never introducing new bacteria to the open pores on your face.

You may find that using a blackhead removal tool changes your perspective on yourself and your skin. Since it is so inexpensive and convenient, at least you owe it to yourself to try a blackhead removal tool. It might just change your life!
