Properly Caring For Your Hair Shears

Choosing the best pair of hair shears does not necessarily guarantee good performance

Just wet a soft towel with water, and then use it to wipe the shears' blades. After this, wipe the shears dry and store it in a safe, dry place.

The next step is lubrication. Use mild honing oil in doing this process. Just put the oil at the shears' joints, putting about two drops of oil and then wiping it dry with a clean fabric. You can also open the shears to its entire length in order to disperse the oil. Lubrication would be very necessary in order to remove traces of hair or other debris which were stuck in the shears. Honing oil would also provide a protective coating for the shears, making it less vulnerable to damages and rust.

The next step is sharpening. This is truly important in preserving the shears' quality, because its blades would be made as sharp as it were before. Due to frequent usage, the shears' blades might already be blunt, so it is necessary to restore its sharpness through habitual sharpening.

The last step is proper storage. Make sure that your shears are stored in a container or case which would not expose it to damage. You should also search for a safe storage place, in order to prevent the shears from causing any accident.
