Properly Clean Your Furniture With Professional Upholstery Cleaning
Cleaning furniture at home is sometimes a very challenging task. But upholstery cleaning can be a shade more challenging than normal furniture. There is every possibility that upholstery will get stains, especially when children are around. They cannot be put in washing machines for a wash. Unfortunately, the process of cleaning upholstery is a bit tedious and has to be followed to keep them clean.
There are many ways by which upholstery can get dirty. Pets at home can make upholsters dirty. Pet hairs might stick to it. Children may spill their sodas on to furniture, which will lead to stains. The vinyl couch can also get stains. There are different types of upholstery cleaning processes. The following describes one of these processes.
Remove Stains From A Couch or Recliner Cover
Look at the upholstery, and identify the type of material. The best way would be to go through the manufacturer's website and learn the proper ways to treat the stains. Some manufacturers will provide clear instruction on how to treat spots. It is always a better idea to start the cleaning process with a gentle vacuuming to clear dust particles from the recliner cover.
Blotches that are liquid in nature should be soaked up with the help of a cloth or a towel. Simply apply the towel on the spot and press it hard to let the towel get completely soaked. Continue the process until as much liquid as possible has been soaked up.
Now use water to clean the area. Warm water will be ideal for upholstery cleaning; however, even cold water is better at times, especially for cleaning food blotches. Use warm water if cold water is ineffective. It is best to do a small test to ensure water does not lead to discoloration. Once satisfied use a small amount of water to make the blotched area wet. Make a paste with the help of detergent, baking soda, water and vinegar. Apply the paste on the stained spot. Leave it for some time, and then remove the paste. Again, apply a little water to clear off the paste and then leave it to dry.
Similarly, upholstery can be cleaned without any use of water. A dry cleaning process can often be a better option to clean a couch cover. Some manufacturers will leave a caution on the labels to use only a dry cleaning process to clean recliner covers. It is better to use the service of professional cleaners when dry cleaning upholstery.
