If you were to adopt a golden retriever puppy keep in mind that when it grows up it will weight 80 pounds and would be full of energy. He would be knocking everything over and if you have small children this could be dangerous. So when you adopt a puppy consider the pros's and con's of having it when it gets older before you actually get it.
