Prostate Enlarged Treatment And Prostate Cancer Treatment
A man's prostate gland usually starts to enlarge after he reaches 40 years of age
. This condition is called benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
The prostate gland secretes a fluid that helps to nourish sperm. The gland itself surrounds the urethra, which is the tube that carries urine from the bladder out through the tip of the penis (see multimedia file 1). As the prostate grows larger, it may press on the urethra. This narrowing of the urethra can cause some men with prostate enlargement to have trouble with urination. Prostate enlargement may be the most common health problem in men older than 60 years of age.
With the process of aging, it is quite common for the prostate gland to become enlarged. As a man matures, the prostate goes through two main periods of growth. The first occurs early in puberty, during male genital development, when the prostate doubles in size.
Causes
The actual cause of prostate enlargement is unknown. Factors linked to aging and the testicles themselves may play a role in the growth of the gland. Men who have had their testicles removed at a young age (for example, as a result of testicular cancer) do not develop BPH.
Similarly, if the testicles are removed after a man develops BPH, the prostate begins to shrink in size.
Some facts about prostate enlargement:
1.The likelihood of developing an enlarged prostate increases with age.
2.BPH is so common that it has been said all men will have an enlarged prostate if they live long enough.
3.A small amount of prostate enlargement is present in many men over age 40 and more than 90% of men over age 80.
4.No risk factors have been identified other than having normally functioning testicles.
Characteristic Symptoms of Prostate Enlargement
1.The enlargement of the prostate gland causes an obstruction in the normal exit of urine from the bladder.
2.An increased frequency and urgency in passing urine, there may also be pain during urination.
3.The patient tends to pass urine many times at night and in many cases there is a feeling of burning along with urine passage.
4.A persistent pain in genitals and the lower back.
5.Recurrent urinary tract infections, blood may be present in urine in advanced stages.
6.On rectal examination, the prostate gland is enlarged and tender to touch. On examining the abdomen, the bladder is generally found to be distended.
Ayurveda Treatments
1.Shilajit Take 1 gram shilajit twice a day with warm milk.
2.Take 50 ml juice of petha and add 1 gram Yavkshara. Take this 2 to 3 times with some sugar.
3.Prepare a decoction of Erand and Yavkshara roots. Take 30 ml twice daily.
4.Take approximately 10 to 20 ml purified castor oil mixed in water or milk twice.
5.Soak 2 to 3 dried anjeer in water overnight. In the morning mash the anjeer and drink the mixture. Continue for a few days.
6.Dip a small woolen blanket in a cows warm urine. Foment the bladder with this for relief.
7.Prepare a mixture by pounding together equal amounts of mishri and cumin seeds. Take this with water twice a day.
