Protect You Knee And Ankle Joints With Professional Running Shoes

This weekend sees the first on the many great marathon events for the year of 2010

, when the London marathon sponsored by Virgin finally gets underway on Sunday 25th April 2010, and now the airports are finally back open again there should be a bumper field taking part, both in the main category and the fun running stakes.

The marathon will culminate months of hard work for a number of the runners as they finally get to fulfil their dream of competing in the 26 mile course around London that will take in a number of the world famous sites. There will be a number of sponsors who will have been working closely with all of the athletes to ensure that they are in the best physical condition when the race finally gets underway. Those sponsors will include Bupa, Adidas and a whole host of other clients that will be able to assist the runners on their quest.

One thing that all of the runners will need to ensure they have performed appropriate levels of preparation on before taking their place on the starting line on Sunday is their footwear choice. Performing any kind of running can put a great deal of stress on the body's joints and it is vital that if you are considering performing any form of long distance running that you have the appropriate footwear for the task.

There is no excuse for not running in the appropriate footwear today; there are a number of companies that provide and stock a number of the most comfortable, cushioned and supportive running shoes in the market place. Whether it is Nike, Adidas or Asics, there are enough brands out there today to satisfy everyone. Whether you foot is wide or thin, short or long, there is a pair of running shoes to suit your needs, and it is vital that you get a pair of running shoes that fit snugly and provide the appropriate levels of support to your joints.

Running of any form can put pressure on the ankle and knee joints and if you are wearing an ill fitting or incorrect pair of running shoes you could be performing irreversible damage to your body. Running shoes have been specifically designed to enable runners to land firmly on the sole of their foot, whereas other sports based shoes might force you to land on the outer edge of your foot before planting your foot firmly down.

If you are unsure about your choice of footwear or you would like to find out more about appropriate footwear then speak to someone in your local sports store to ensure you are running a long way into the future.
