Protect your Beaches with EPA's Guidance

Most of us flock to beaches to relish in sporting and other relaxation opportunities that they offer

. It is the responsibility of each and every one of us to contribute towards protecting the beaches from any sort of threats. A small effort from your side can make a huge difference.

Here are some simple but effective steps that you can take to protect the beaches:

Dispose the trash in appropriate containers or else it is likely to runoff and reach the beach.

Always choose natural substances over chemicals as fertilization options for your garden and lawn.

Avoid throwing used motor oil into the storm drains. Rather recycling the oil would be a better option.

Don't leave the used things at the beach. Instead, reuse and recycle them.

Avoid dumping your boat's bilge water into the sea. It is rather sensible to use the onshore sanitary facilities that are available. In case there is an accidental bilge water spill from your boat, you can even use eco-friendly products, such as Oil Gone Easy S-200 as a safe and effective method for oil spill cleanup. To be on the safer side use the product for bilge cleaning as well.

While these are some measures that you can adopt, EPA also contributes in protecting the beaches by the following ways.

EPA prevents pollution from various sources, including storm water and sewage system overflow, from reaching the water.

EPA obliges point sources to secure a permit before releasing the waste water.

Adopts measures, such as educating people, pollution budgeting, and regulating proper septic systems to control pollution from indirect sources.

Provides grant money of $10 million to states, tribes, and local government to execute beach monitoring programs.

By adopting these measures in accordance with EPA guidelines, you can protect the beaches and lay the foundation for a safer tomorrow!
