Mark: Toni can you explain why we need to pay attention to local search marketing?
Toni: The trend towards local search is growing. In recent years, the number of local searches online has grown rapidly while off-line information searches, such as the Yellow Pages, have declined.
Local search marketing is the natural evolution of traditional off-line advertising, typically distributed by newspapers TV and radio. Historically, consumers relied on local newspapers, local TV or radio to find local product and services. Now people are using mobile devices and turning to the Internet.
Mark: Toni can you tell us what the essential ingredients are to succeed in online marketing.
Toni: I think all of us empathise with business owners who are not only trying to understand how to use the Internet to market their business, but also to run it. Believe it or not, marketing on the Internet comes down to 3 basic things: Market research, attracting website traffic and converting that traffic into leads or sales. That's it.
Mark: Toni how will local search marketing impact my business?
Toni: A recent study showed that people were more likely to use online searches to research the brands to buy and to find local businesses that supply those brands. Almost 40 percent used online research to help them decide on their purchase selection.
The study also found that 83 percent of local search users contacted businesses offline, with 46 percent of them making contacts over the phone and 37 percent visiting the businesses in person. Half of all online local business searchers made purchases.
In another key finding, nearly two-thirds of those surveyed stated that they expected their search results to reveal businesses within 15 miles of their homes or places of work.
Mark: Toni what is the #1 secret to faster local search marketing results?
Toni: Planning! From market intelligence and keyword research, choosing a suitable domain name, site structure, keyword rich web copy and content. To campaigning and marketing the site efficiently, can strengthen brand awareness, increase sales, generate buzz about a company and products.
Mark: Is the future of local search marketing now?
Toni: Yes, the internet is evolving at great speed. The early adopters always make the most money. So the visionaries will reap the rewards of establishing a authoritative presence in both local search and mobile search. So don't wait to climb board. Instead, drive your business into the future by using Local Search.
Mark: In closing Toni what would be your #1 tip for businesses wanting local search engine marketing results?
Toni: Google Maps. Over the last couple of years the search engines have been improving local search features. Google has already embedding local Maps inside their search pages as part of their Universal Search results.
This has opened up new opportunities for local businesses and requires different techniques, from organic SEO, to get exposure there.
As Maps usage grows it is becoming more important to be seen here as well as in organic or paid search.
