The room should be well prepped according to the needs of your parents. It should be clean and spacious. It should have a window for fresh air and provide a beautiful view of nature and the walls should be of soothing and calming colours which provides a soothing and comfortable atmosphere for your elderly parents. Proper hygiene should also be provided to them. If you are placing a Television in their room, make sure that you put the remote in their approach. Also put a bell near their bed so that they can call you at any time. Their room should be near to the bathroom. Bringing your elderly parent to your house can give your family more time with each other and peace of mind.

You would also have to build safety handles in the bathroom to assist your parents in and out of the bathtub.

- Construct mother-in-law suites for your parents:

These mother-in-law suites provide temporary or permanent residence to elderly parents. The purpose of these mother-in-law suites is to construct an extension to the home of children which has all the basic facilities like bedroom, living area, laundry room, bathroom and a small cooking area. This arrangement helps both parents and children to have their own level of privacy still being close to each other.

There are many ways to construct a mother-in-law suite. Instead of making an extension to your home, you can construct a separate small cottage for your elderly parents. You can select the location on the preference of your parents i.e. it can be built close to your house and can be linked by a footpath.

Another option is to build an upper story of your house. In this way you can give your elderly parents the ground floor for their convenience and you can move to the upper floor. This structure will ensure a good level of privacy for everyone.
