Psychics And Clairvoyants - Are They Relevant Today?

If you are a person who can perceive what another person is thinking

, or may have strong negative gut feelings or intuition working before going somewhere which later turns out to be right or may be you have accurate visions about your sister being sick even when she is thousands of miles away, then you are a psychic. In simpler terms, psychics are those who have a sixth sense and can perceive things which are otherwise hidden from the normal human senses.

Assuming that you are that individual from above who has visions about your near and dear ones who stay thousands of mile away or you can see the colour of the aura emanating from an individual and then have visions about his/her future, you can be safely termed as an clairvoyant.

Thus clairvoyants are people who have the psychic power to 'see' things which otherwise cannot be seen by other people with the normal human sense of sight. Originating from the word 'Clair voyance' or 'clear viewing', clairvoyants have an extra sensory perception that results in them seeing visions of another individual's personal aspects or his/her events in the past or future.

Thus it can be concluded that clairvoyants are one type of psychics. Using clairvoyants to mean psychics as whole or using these two words synonymously is inaccurate since clairvoyants are a special subset of psychics, which includes various others kinds of powers as well.

The scientific study of the existence and reasons behind psychic abilities is called Parapsychology. In the scientific language of parapsychology, a clairvoyant is one who experiences transfer of contemporary information directly from an external source which is unknown or hidden to that person. Hence, it is quite different from telepathy, where the psychic experiences information transfer from another individual's mind.

Again, clairvoyants can be differentiated from psychics having the abilities of retro-cognition and precognition. While retro-cognition involves knowing about another's past, precognitions refers to foreseeing the future. In both these instances, the psychics 'know' the past or the future and they don't necessarily 'see' it. If a person has vision about the future and sees the events, only then he can be called a clairvoyant.

Moreover, clairvoyants are different from mediums. Mediums are those psychics who have the ability to communicate with spirits. This is generally done through any of the four channels of trance, healing, physical and Clairsensing. In the first case the medium communicates with the spirit while in a trance while in case of healing, the medium receives health benefits from an external and higher source. Physical mediumship on the other hand involves participation in activities such as turntables, etc. Clairsensing is the only channel where clairvoyants can function. Clairsensing typically involves seeing spirits or hearing them through clairvoyance or clairaudience respectively.

Thus it can be concluded that all clairvoyants are psychics but all psychics are not clairvoyants. However, the core similarity between them is the presence of an extra sensory perception power with the help of which they perceive hidden messages from our environment. One should always remember that having such a gift of sixth sense is extremely rare and thus should be considered a blessing and used for the betterment of others.
