. The abilities of a psychic can be very diverse and just like people no two psychics are the same in their abilities. Often psychics can predict the future by relying on extrasensory perception and for those who are extra gifted mind reading is an ability that can help to predict peoples actions and thoughts. Psychics have credited their insight and abilities to visions as well as direct communication with spirits who offer guidance. Some psychics claim that they are in touch with spirits and angels that can bring healing and guided communication from the world of the afterlife.

The word psychic refers to someone who has abilities in the area of para-psychological phenomena. People with a special need will contact a psychic as they are the only ones who are able to sense events in the future. Because of this they are valuable in offering warnings to anyone from individuals all the way up to government agencies. These gifts and abilities are not visible or easily discernable to the 5 senses, because of this there are skeptics. A psychic that claims to be Clairvoyant may also work as a medium, helping living people make contact with the dead. Many times these mediums offer advice and guidance to concerned family members. These psychics are then contracted to help these dead relatives with their transition into the afterlife. In order to better predict the future some psychics use tarot cards, numerology, astrology and the powers of crystals to help understand the future.

Psychics have been around for many centuries, fortune telling was used in Greece and Rome for governmental planning and to direct society. Many people are not aware that seers or psychics have impacted world history. From people like Nostradamus to more modern psychics like Jeane Dixon who foretold the deaths of President Kennedy and Carole Lombard, psychics have had an impact on all areas of our life.

The world psychic originally stems from the Greek word psychikos" which means having to do with the mind or soul. This is appropriate as psychics have the ability to read and contact the inner working of the soul and share information that would otherwise not be normally available.

Psychics in Modern Times

Modern society did not open up to psychics until the late 1800s, up until that time psychics were regarded as freaks or aberrations. It used to be that to find a psychic you would need to visit a carnival or circus and then the validity of their ability was highly in question.

In the early 20th century with the creation of the radio and television the psychics came out of obscurity and began to educate and occupy a more mainstream spot in modern society. As the psychics moved into home life they brought new ways of thinking and scientific concepts that were new to the masses. Just as the TV and radio brought psychic ability out into mainstream, the internet has created a new awareness of psychic ability as well as a new medium for allowing people to contact psychics from the convenience of any internet connection.
