Have you ever sent out an "advertisement," and much to your disappointment

, received much less of a response than you had hoped for?

Here is a few pointers and tips on the psychology behind marketing

There are a couple of tips and tricks - psychologically speaking, that can set your marketing apart

How do we define marketing? here is perhaps a good way to view it...


Marketing is actually programming peoples' brains with your words!

That might sound a little bit harsh, but here's what I mean.

When you format any type of copy online, be that email web pages or a fully written follow up campaign. The basic reason you are putting the words together is to influence someone's thinking.

Specifically, most people want to write something that will put the reader's mind into a state which is "ready to buy" -- or "ready to sign up."

Now, the key idea here is that what you are trying to do is use your words to get your readers to think something.

When you think about your marketing, and it is not achieving the results you expect... there is only one thing to look at.

+++++++++++++You are not achieving the state of mind influence and getting the message to 'Hit Home' for the reader. You are not hitting the 'Hot Buttons'.++++++++++++++++++++++

But how could that be?

You wrote out an advertisement so carefully. It even looks like all those other ones out there.

Whatever the reason - It simply did not work

So, how do you get your readers to think what you want, then?

Understanding psychology is the key. Because, if you know how brains work, then you'll really know what to write to influence them the way you want.

Of course, the field of psychology is huge -- you can get a Ph.D. in it. But, here are 3 psychological tips you can use to your advantage.

Some of these tips may not be what you consider to be common ways of thinking, but fair warning... Not every common thinking is going to get your sales to rocket.

Because as we know - the methods that have been comfortable and feel like they are the right way... May not have achieved the results. Right?

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ TIP #1: At all costs, avoid looking like an advertisement. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

People are so used to filtering out advertising in everyday life - you need to be aware of that.

Your own way of thinking is evidence of this.

Would you spend your free time reading ads?

Probably not.

Anything that even vaguely looks like an ad - is seen that way by the viewer, and seen as only there to sell something.

So giving some real, and beneficial information is the best way around that. And give it free!'

When you give something of value away for free, you are not seen as trying to sell something. You are therefore avoiding the filter of 'Just another advertisement'

People will be assured from your first offering of valuable information, and then when you are looking to post in you offer with them, you have a much higher chance of getting that offer seen.

Another thing which people completely tune out is things which look just like everyone else's.

We see this every where we look as all ads seem to fit into a certain mould - and that mould is un-original.

LIKE THIS.... GET IN NOW - MAKE $10,000 IN YOUR FIRST 5 MINUTES.... ETC ETC

Nobody even glances at this kind of thing anymore because it is the same as all the trash and they have become accustomed to it.

Make sure you don't look like anyone else, and you'll stand out.

You MUST be original and stand out from the others if you want to succeed

Combine this with Tip #1 to come up with headlines and email subject lines which really communicate something interesting and meaningful.

Remember, you can bait people in to read your ad with headlines and subject lines which convey something people actually want to read, and then later you can still sell them your product or service!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ TIP #3: At all costs, avoid making huge promises you know you can't keep. Don't hype. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

The incredible claims that are being made in marketing these days are sickening. Subjects just join here for free, do no work - and within 24 hours, you will be rolling in cash.

You can't honestly expect someone to fulfill those promises, they have no substance whatsoever.

So, when you do things like this it sets off major red flags in peoples' heads, and they stop reading.

People also become immune to your ads, if you promote something as the 'Biggest' or the 'Best'. They have heard it all before

Of course, maybe I could send out an email about Google saying that it's the "most powerful site" out there, but people are tired of hearing all this hype about every little site.

You might even believe that you just found the "best site to come out in the last 10 years," but so many people *have* worn out this promise that it holds no weight anymore (see Tip #2).

This one can seem counterintuitive, since you might think that you *should* say great things about your website or product to get people to want it.

The problem is... This is not taking the Psychology into account.


Instead, the real skill in advertising is getting people's attention and giving real information to keep that attention, looking different from others and bringing people to you in a subtle way.

Let your actual website or product make them say "wow."

And if you're afraid that your actual website or product won't make them say "wow," so you need to hype it up in your marketing, then maybe you need to re-evaluate, and figure out how to make whatever you're selling powerful enough.
