Public Transport Vs. A Car
Why should you learn to drive in Brisbane when there are alternative transport options to get you from A to B
? Across a wide age range, there are plenty of people in and around Brisbane asking themselves this very question.
Considering the costs, convenience, reliability and even traffic, what is the better choice?
Public Transport
Cost has forever been the main reason many of us choose public transport over using a car (or learning to drive). Over the course of a month, the use of your Go Card can cost you somewhat less than driving to and from work, uni and social activities. With off peak rates and frequent traveller incentives, this one benefit is becoming increasingly appealing for some.
The downside of choosing public transport is the lack of control, choice and efficiency. While we may not have the worst public transport system in the world, the system that is available to us is fraught with all the same delays and poor planning as any other system around the world. Many often wonder if the supposed lower cost of opting for public transport is worth all of the hassle.
Car
One simple word sums up all of the pros of driving independence. Once you
learn to drive , you are free from timetables, fare hikes, rude drivers and massive delays. Provided that you have easy access to a car, you can finally go wherever you want, whenever you want. Many a teenager will attest to the joys of being able to get out and about without dealing with changing buses or relying on mum and dad. Alternatively, if youre a bit older the ability to drive facilitates a more efficient and productive professional life, no longer are you late to work because of train delays or because you missed the bus.
As for the cons of a car its usually the cost. When you have a car, you must pay for your license, insurance, rego, fuel, cleaning and occasionally repairs.
In the end though, as much as anyone may gripe about the cost of using a car, they would never consider selling it and jumping on a bus every day. A car license is just too useful.
Now you just need to find someone to help you learn to drive. We recommend Roadworks Driver Training a quality Queensland
driving school with good rates and experienced instructors.
