Many pet owners become paranoid over the issue of pet training and though they know

what to expect before bringing home the pet, they often try to get this training done at training classes. This may not be the right approach as there is nothing better than getting your hands dirty and teaching your puppy yourself. It establishes a better bond and like small children, puppies too love the attention they get from their owners rather than from a third person.

At about eight weeks, your puppy would be able to retrieve things and obey simple commands. He would find this activity quite pleasing and would want to impress you with his alacrity in doing so.

Puppy training tools like a leash, soft ball toys and other toys that are harmless can be used in your training sessions. Hygiene training and potty training can be delivered taking help from the various puppy books, DVDs and speaking to other pet owners. While training your puppy it is important to keep motivating it through regular praise. When use simple commands along with gestures, you should be able to communicate quite well with your puppy and over time it will understand these commands much better. Puppy training should be a fun activity for your pet and as he begins to understand that his actions draw praise from you, he would endeavour to please you all the more. Ensure that you do not make the training session a stressful one.

It is also necessary to appreciate that each animal would have its own pace of learning and you need to make allowance for that.
