Pure Porcelain Dental Crowns Help You Feel Better and Look Younger
Is your smile making you look older? Are your restorations unnatural and unattractive with a dark line at your gums? Do you wish you could smile but feel embarrassed because of old-looking or outdated crowns or caps?
There is a solution pure porcelain crowns. And here at Renaissance Dental Center Drs. Anna Abernethy, Jill Sonner and Anita Wells can remove and replace your aging, damaged or unsightly crowns for a fresher, healthier, more updated look.
Porcelain crowns are so natural looking and so comfortable feeling that you may just forget they are there! They let you smile with confidence, eat what you like and stop worrying about the condition of your teeth. It's what nature intended in the first place!
How Are Porcelain Crowns Different?
Porcelain dental crowns are different from metal crowns in a number of ways, the most obvious being in appearance. Gold crowns are very obvious in a smile. Porcelain fused to metal, also known as PFM, while more subtle than gold, is also quite clearly a restoration. PFM's do not reflect the light the way a natural tooth does or have the translucency and color variation of surrounding teeth. They often leave a dark and ugly line at the edge of the gum as well. All in all, PFM crowns make your smile look old, discolored and unnatural.
Pure porcelain crowns actually look like real, beautiful teeth. When created by artisans at a top-notch laboratory, they have depth, color variations and the translucent quality real teeth have. And now, with the newest advancements in materials and techniques, porcelain crowns are stronger, more durable and longer lasting than ever before.
Am I a Candidate for Porcelain Dental Crowns?
Do you have aging crowns or large fillings? Are any of your teeth or fillings broken or fractured? Are any of your teeth in need of cosmetic enhancement? Do you need a root canal? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, you are probably the perfect candidate for a porcelain dental crown.
What is the Procedure for a Dental Crown from Renaissance Dental Center?
We start all crown placements by making sure you are absolutely relaxed and comfortable. If you'd like a blanket, a pillow or some music to help you relax, just ask.
If we are replacing an old restoration, we will gently remove it and prepare any remaining enamel for secure bonding with the crown. Next we take impressions of the tooth and surrounding areas. These impressions will be sent to our lab for custom creation of your tooth. After the impressions are taken, we place a temporary crown to cover and protect your tooth while the permanent crowns are being created. In approximately two weeks, you will return for final placement of your crown. Our patients are pleased and amazed at how good their porcelain crowns look and feel.
