In 1996, Catherine Purple Cherry established Purple Cherry Architects out of a home office, where she was the sole employee. Steady growth quickly led to the hire of an intern architect and office manager. Today, it is a thriving practice with 13 employees including four licensed architects, project designers, intern architects, and support staff. Purple Cherry Architects is a certified Woman-Owned and Minority Business Enterprise with the Maryland Department of Transportation (Certification No. 05-502) and a member of the U.S. Green Building Council. It is clear that Cathy Purple Cherry has a passion for design and considers successful designs that help others the mission of her life rather than simply a job.

In order to share their previous successes and provide clarity & inspiration to future clients, Purple Cherry has provided a variety of photos and information regarding their past coastal architectural designs. One such amazing design would be the private waterfront residence on Aberdeen Creek. This stunning property blends shingle style seaside elegance with Marylands Eastern Shore farmhouse refinement. The main floor includes a great room with a large stone fireplace and open kitchen, formal dining room, butlers pantry, mudroom, bathroom and a heart pine paneled office. A semi-circular sitting room with a fireplace commands a 180-degree view of Aberdeen Creek and surrounding marshes. A stone and timber frame pool room provides a large gathering place for entertainment. The landscape plan includes an outdoor hot tub and a generous stone and grass entertainment area. A working orchard is located off the back porch. Lastly, a new large timberframe barn is located on the edge of the property providing additional storage and work and play areas completing the estate.
