The (MOPH) is sometimes called Purple Heart, it's been around nearly 70 years. Money for these charities usually stems from donated used items including furniture, clothes and automobiles .

Formally called the Badge of Military Merit, it was start by our Our 1st president good ole George Washington in 1917. It's awarded to personnel injured or killed in the line of duty. It's also the been in existance longer than any other service award. It even has a few notables honorees including Charles Bronson and Oliver Stone.

Wives, mothers, daughters, step-daughters and adopted daughters|female family of Purple Heart recipients are eligible

to belong to the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, which also does important work nationally

and locally in veterans' hospital.

Why donate to Purple Heart?

Besides the fact, these people put their life in harms way for our freedom and our lives. One can only imagine the mental impact a war has on a soldier and or their family, especially when wounded. It's hard enough to maintain in today's economy. Add an injury, physical or mental into the equation. Giving back to this people would be a small show of appreciation for all they've given.

Your donations to the Purple Heart are also tax deductible and the charity program provides you with a reciept. If you're making a donation, you can fill out a short form the internet or call directly. Once your giving the okay

they'll make arrangements to have your motor-vehicle towed for free. Your car will go either to auction,sold for junk parts,

given directly to a veteran to drive, or they can be used by the adminstration of the charity for different related needs (like delivering meals to shut-in or taking veterans to the hospital).
