The head of Qingdao Tourism Administration Wang Jiangong made an online communication with netizens on June 1

. He disclosed that in 2009, the tourism economy scale of Qingdao ranked tenth among all sub-provincial cities in China. Thus, the Qingdao Tourism Administration is planning to build a new distribution center for tourists in the densely populated region. The Qingdao Tourism Administration is drawing up a Special Plan for The Tourism Around Kiaochow Bay. On the base of research and planning on the Bay Bridge and lower reaches of Licun River, Licang District in Qingdao is to be built into a new seaside area.

According to Wangs introduction, in 2009, the number of domestic and foreign tourists flowing into Qingdao has surpassed 40 million and the total tourist income has reached CNY 48.9 billion. Currently, Laoshan Scenic Area is being built as national AAAA level attraction. In response to the planning, the Dahedong Parking Lot is going to be transformed into a huge visitor transfer center, and Xiaohedong Parking Lot will be added with some supporting facilities like hotel, restaurant and shopping center.

Wang also expressed that in order to resolve the urban stubborn illnesses parking difficulty in city coast area and traffic jam, Qingdao is speeding up the construction of a number of formal and temporary parking lots in the coast area. At present time, some lots have been put into use.

So far, Qingdao Transportation Group has set up an international tourist distribution center, which centers mainly on East Coach Station of Qingdao and takes other coach stations as sub centers. Wang disclosed that the plan for constructing a new tourist distribution in the densely populated region could be carried out after being argued and approved by the relevant sector.

From Wang, the Qingdao Tourism Administration is working out the Special Plan for The Tourism Around Kiaochow Bay. After research and planning on the Bay Bridge and lower reaches of Licun River, coastal park, bridgehead park, landscape belt and tourist area along the river, forest sightseeing region, new railway station, etc are included in the planning.
