Teachers play a great role in a childs life. When kids start going to school, the school becomes the childs second home since, after home, the school is the place where they spend most of their time. So, a great school environment is extremely important. Teachers are the ones who are greatly responsible for making that environment good. Also, what they teach and how they behave with your child, play a great role in the shaping of your childs character. So, you must choose the teachers of your child very carefully.

There are some qualities that every teacher should possess. When you are looking for a tutor for your child, you must observe if the teacher has these qualities. Also, if you are an aspiring teacher, you must possess these characteristics to be the teacher that the students actually love!

There are countless of opinions and people seem to have different views when it comes to these qualities. But some of the most common qualities are:

Adaptability: This is one of the most important qualities of a teacher. A person, who is rigid, stubborn and unwilling to adapt changes, is definitely not suited for this career. Then again, someone who is willing to take on new challenges, new batch of students and cope with tough situations, is the perfect one for this position. Every student will be different, with different needs, thought process and the batch of students will change every year. So, one needs to keep an open mind and adjust to all that will be thrown at them.

Organisational skills: Organised people always make great teachers. This is one of the qualities that everybody must have. The tutors are responsible for teaching the kids the importance of being organised. In order to be successful at teaching the kids this lesson, one needs a system and they must know how to make the best use of that system. Teachers can not have the luxury of being unfocused and scattered. Planning must be a teachers forte. Efficient planning is the key to an effective and successful class.

Creativity and humour: The ideal tutor is able to persuade his/ her students to engage in what they are teaching. Even if the study material is boring and dull, a creative teacher will find a way to present it to the students in a way that get the dread out of the subject. A lot of students these days drop out of schools because they can not grasp the subject. That produces bitterness towards the subject. The creative method engages the student, encourages their passion, and improves their grades. Humour keeps the material from being dry and dull making it easier for the teacher to teach disinterested students.

Empathy: This is the most important of all the traits. A person, who is not empathetic, can not fulfil the other traits. A tutor needs to be able to sympathise with the children and understand what they are going through. This ability to empathise with them makes it easier for the teachers to connect with the students. Children need a lot more than just teaching. In order to mould the kids into functional adults, you would need to give them support and care.

That is why a lot of people consider good teaching as a type of parenting.
